  1. I love the grand, free feeling of the song. MUCH easier to listen to than the Cree music. :) You can tell the American influence by the banjo in the background. Were English songs similar to this or is this style of music strickly American?

    1. This is a sea shanty that likely dates to the 1400 or 1500s, it was common amongst almost every country on the north Atlantic. The original lyrics of this song are about Amsterdam, and versions of it were sung all across Europe, as well as in America.
